My friend Wikolia wants to remind you to make “Smart Growth” choices.
One week of early voting left! Simply walk into City Hall and request a ballot w/Laurie or Trisha. When you vote early, you make more time for volunteering on Election Day wink emoticon
Have you ever considered running for alderman? The odd numbered districts (1,3,5, & 7) are up for re-election this Spring. Applications are due the first week of January and can be picked up from City Hall. We also have applications available at Greco Gallery. No work experience is necessary, however, you must live in the district in which you run. Most of our alderman never had experience in City government before being elected, so don’t let that stop you. New faces bring in a new perspective, so please ask us how we can help your campaign. We’ll be there with you all the way through election day, you can count on that! More information about districts can be found on the city website or at the top of this event page. Now, go talk to your family about this exciting opportunity! — á/í City of Sturgeon Bay City Hall.
Lunch date in one hour at City Hall? The Common Council is meeting at noon to discuss business as usual. We are encouraged to speak on “non agenda items,” which gives us the opportunity to speak up about waterfront development. This council will ultimately decide on the hotel. Tell them how you feel in person, today.
Can u say Storm is coming
Also on the Common Council meeting agenda last night, which was added by Alderman Ron Vandertie, Item 10. Consideration of: Motor vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle pavement markings on Michigan Street. Prior to the meeting WBAY (Channel 2) News interviewed Mr. Vandertie where he stated that there is “no urgency” to repainting the bike lanes. There were several concerned citizens who showed up to the meeting who disagreed and were prepared to give input. The Bicycle and Pedest. rian Advisory Committee had previously prepared two alternative plans with improvements to the present layout of bike lanes and sharrows. The Aldermen were given the plans in their meeting packets for review and consideration. Mr. Vandertie and the council dealt with it by sending it to the Parking and Traffic Committee, where it will be reviewed and discussed Thursday, August 15th at 6:00pm. Please mark your calendars and attend this important meeting at City Hall. Sjá meira
At last nights Sturgeon Bay Common Council Meeting, Alderman Bob Schlicht presented to the Mayor and the City the “Bike Friendly Community” award from the League of American Bicyclists. In this video, Bob Schlicht is reading the presentation letter from Nicole Wynands, LAB Program Manager. It was wonderful to see how many of you showed tonight out of appreciation for the hard work of the Sturgeon Bay Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board. It was their diligence that made it possible. It should also be noted that Bob Schlicht is the Chairman of that board. — á/í City of Sturgeon Bay City Hall.
