We have mail. The new kitty, June, has arrived!

Mum planting was completed this week while Vicky and Suzanne (the bosses) were enjoying some well deserved time off. Over the years we have honed this process down from a week long operation to only taking a couple of days. Here you can see 288 pots of mums planted in about 20 minutes time. Babette in the hat in the back places pots into Fiona, our pot and flat filling machine, Becca on left inserts zone tag. You will also notice Becca and Babette keeping the soil falling out of the soil bag every once and a while. Jan, in purple shirt, plants either one or 2 mum plants in said pot, Norma in white shirt inserts mum color and description tag and Amy places pots on the monorail cart line, Gary takes carts away and places the plants down in various locations in greenhouse range.

Introducing our newest crew member Jack Frost! We’re keeping the theme of hosta names for cats going, and so Jack Frost is named after a variegated green and white hosta. Jack is a great greenhouse cat: he attends morning meetings, helps pull orders, has his own chair at the break table, plays enthusiastically and gets along great with all the dogs. We love Jack!

Fairy gardens, Patio Perfect tomatoes, cucumbers and eggplant. who doesn’t love things in miniature? How about some grapes! Pixie Grapes are here and are irresistible! This compact dwarf variety produces mini clusters in it’s first year and will continue to produce through out the year. They do well in the ground (are hardy to Zone 3 with protection) or are PERFECT in containers. Bring them inside for the winter and they will continue to delight! In stock we have ‘Riesling’, a light-skinned grape from Germany. Some say it’s the worlds best white-wine variety although they are sweet and could be enjoyed fresh or as juice too. Full grown at 2 feet!

Baskets are going out the door! Check our website: www.rushcreekgrowers.com and click on “Where to Buy” to see where you can find them near you!

Happy Earth Day! Did you know that we use compostable pots? The 3 1/2″ herb and vegetable pots and the annual vine pots are made from rice hulls, bamboo and straw!

Spring has been gently unfolding in the perennial houses. Take a look at who’s blooming right now: Dicentra spectabilis, Heucherella ‘Brass Lanterns’ and Pulsatilla vulgaris, just to name a few!

Baby plants are everywhere (and they’re being transplanted like mad!) Can you guess what these are?

Happy Friday Everyone! This week bay 4 was filled completely with Lisianthus, Panies and Violas with more flowing into Kansas. Enjoy the sunshine!

Have you ever wondered what kind of adventures your plants have gone on before they get to you? Watch for new photos here as we follow the life of some Mint cuttings.

Anticipating spring? So are we! It will be arriving soon!
