Why is a pub called a bar?

Article Tools

In a pub, the ‘bar ‘ is the counter where you go to be served your drink, so-called because there is usually a brass rail or ‘bar ‘ that runs along the bottom that you can rest your feet on. Many have two rooms, one called ‘the public bar ‘ (also known as ‘the bar ‘) and ‘the lounge’. Jan 8, 2019
