Electric cooking ranges (stoves ) have special wiring needs because they require a 120 /240 -volt circuit and receptacle. An electric range, on the other hand, makes use of 120 -volt current for the same purposes, but it also uses 240 -volt current to heat the stovetop heating elements and oven heating coils.
