Veggies like chard, kale, and spinach promote skin elasticity, circulation and detoxification. Have you had your greens today?
Land of the FREE, because of the BRAVE. Remember those that served this Memorial Day weekend.
If you don’t have a membership at the Lake Geneva YMCA – here is a special offer for the summer.
This is a supine hamstring stretch – this will help with low back pain. You can use an old tie or a strap, wrap it around the ball of your foot and bring your leg up like you see in the picture. If your hamstrings are extremely tight then bend your knee slightly this will help you get your leg into the correct position and also reduce any pain you are feeling in the back of your leg. After resting in this position for a few minutes you can then let your leg drop open to the side of your body for a nice groin stretch, from there you can pull your leg back up like in the picture and move it across your body to feel a stretch into your gluts.
This is a helpful stretch to elongate the hamstrings which also create low back pain when they become tight. (A) Step your right foot forward and lower into a lunge, placing your fingertips on the floor or on two firm cushions if your hands don’t reach. (B) Breathe in, then, in one motion, exhale as you straighten your right leg. Slowly return to the lunge position. Repeat four times. Switch sides.
To help reduce low back pain a great yoga stretch is “Legs up the Wall”, you can place a folded bath towel under your low back to help support the curve of your back while you rest in this position. If your hamstrings are extremely tight and it hurts to straighten your legs then bend your knees a little to allow your hamstrings to slowly stretch and elongate. You can have your arms at your side like in the picture or bring them over your head to get a deeper stretch in your upper back area.
Chia seeds are among the healthiest foods on the planet. Listed below are 7 health benefits. 1. Chia Seeds Deliver a Massive Amount of Nutrients With Very Few Calories~Despite their tiny size, chia seeds are among the most nutritious foods on the planet. They are loaded with fiber, protein, Omega-3 fatty acids and various micro-nutrients. 2. Almost All The Carbs in Them Are Fiber~Almost all of the carbohydrates in chia seeds are fiber. This gives them the ability to absorb 1. 0-12 times their weight in water. Fiber also has various beneficial effects on health. 3. Chia Seeds Are Loaded With Antioxidants~Chia seeds are high in antioxidants that help to protect the delicate fats in the seeds. They also have various benefits for health. 4. Chia Seeds Are High in Quality Protein~Chia seeds are high in quality protein, much higher than most plant foods. Protein is the most weight loss friendly macro-nutrient and can drastically reduce appetite and cravings. 5. Chia Seeds Are High in Omega-3 Fatty Acids~Like flax seeds, chia seeds are very high in Omega-3 fatty acids. 6. They Are High in Many Important Bone Nutrients~Chia seeds are high in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and protein. All of these nutrients are essential for bone health. 7. They Are High in Many Important Bone Nutrients~Chia seeds are high in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and protein. All of these nutrients are essential for bone health. 8. Chia Seeds Are Easy to Incorporate Into Your Diet~Okay, this last one is not a health benefit, but important nonetheless. Chia seeds are incredibly easy to incorporate into your diet. The seeds themselves taste rather bland, so you can add them to pretty much anything. They also don’t need to be ground like flax seeds, which makes them much easier to prepare. They can be eaten raw, soaked in juice, added to porridge’s and puddings, or added to baked goods. You can also sprinkle them on top of cereal, yogurt, vegetables or rice dishes. Because of their ability to absorb both water and fat, they can be used to thicken sauces and even used as egg substitutes in recipes. They can also be mixed with water and turned into a gel. Adding chia seeds to recipes will dramatically boost the nutritional value.
