South Boulevard Reconstruction Project Project update for Monday July 14, 2014 TRAFFIC The project got off to a somewhat rocky star, t in the first couple days until drivers got the feel of what was expected for the one-way eastbound only traffic control setup. Additional signs were added to help drivers become more aware of the proper way to navigate the construction zone. . As of Monday morning, July 14, the traffic between USH 12 and Industrial Court has been switched to the temporary lanes that were constructed last week on the north side of the roadway. Traffic will remain in this configuration until early September while the south half of the roadway is reconstructed. WORK SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK Current operations include milling to remove the existing asphalt pavement, removing old curb and gutter, and installing storm sewer. The milling operation leaves a 6” to 8” drop off from the old asphalt surface. Temporary driveways are being constructed after the milling operation goes by to maintain access to the adjacent properties. For properties with multiple driveways, not all of the drives may be accessible at all times. The storm sewer operation will progress from the east end of the project to the west. The main focus for this week will be to install the storm sewer in the area of the new roundabout. WORK SCHEDULE FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKS The milling operation will be completed. Storm sewer construction will continue throughout the week. The contractor will begin grading operations to construct the new road bed and haul in the crushed stone base. This work will progress from east to west, following the storm sewer installation. No changes are expected to be made to the traffic control layout or detour in the upcoming week. CONTACT INFORMATION There will be an informal public information session this Wednesday, July 16 at 6:00 pm. This session is intended to give the public brief update on the project schedule and address any questions or concerns that one might have. These meetings will be scheduled every other week at the Nordic building. At any time, please feel free to contact the construction project leader directly: Warren Mohar Cell Phone 608-963-5608
