Had a great time with some good friends here today, cranberry muffins and cranberry butter were so amazingly tasty! I had some very good pasta tonight also, lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back again!
The only reason I am giving a one star, rating is because the atmosphere looked inviting and the manager tried to compens. ate us for the poor service of his employees. We did not receive menus until we asked, our bacon wrapped scallops were raw, and our server was the rudest human being I have ever encountered. We were so dissatisfied with the service that we could not even accept the offer to eat our meal at their expense. I hope this establishment gets their priorities straight and new staff so it can become a place worth dining.

The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The food and drinks were also very good, especially the french onion soup, prime rib, and sandwiches.
The waiters and waitresses were also great. All around a wonderful place to stay. One of the best in the Northern woods.
Our room was nice and the food was good but the service in the restaurant was unbearably slow. We should have just went elsewhere when it took 30 minutes longer than we were told to get a table but we stuck with it and ended up wasting the majority of our night there waiting for appetizers, waiting for food, waiting for the bill, etc. Overpriced mediocre food, tourist trap atmosphere. Can get the same or better food elsewhere for less – other than perhaps the cranberry butter.
They could use better meats, fresher fish, a real chef, and better coordination/organization of the waitstaff so they arent fluttering about aimlessly. Even in Chicago, I can get better food and service for less than this place charges.
If you travel to Mercer to get away from typical hectic life, this is no longer the place to go and get a relaxing drink or good meal for a fair price like it used to be. Gone is the friendly atmosphere o(…)
