Method 2 Removing the Cork with a Knife Grab a knife. Use a sharp knife that is thin enough to get into the opening of the bottle. Insert the knife into the cork near the cork’s edge and the neck of the bottle. Push the knife about 1 inch (25 mm) into the cork. Turn the knife. Twist the cork out.
