August is creeping up on us and what an exciting month it will be! We are having our Equiscout meeting on Sunday, August 9th from 2-4 PM!! All are invited! Hoping to see some of our new friends alongside all of our old ones! Then, a little later in the month, August 14th through the 16th we are having a NIHJA show at Brighton! We would like to thank everyone for coming out to Equiscouts this past Sunday! So many new faces and it was a pleasure meeting all our new friends! We had such a great time learning about barn shores, a typical day of horse care and then we all learned the correct and safe way to hand graze horses and ponies! Every one got turns to try everything and we had a wonderful time! Hope to see you all next month! Our next meeting is August 9th – look for details as the date gets closer!

Moving on to today. . today is EQUISCOUTS at Brighton from 2-4PM! Today’s topics are daily barn management/chores and, if the weather permits, hand grazing. Did you ever wonder what we do every day to keep our horses happy and healthy? Do you want to have a horse one day and, if so, you will need to know what its daily care will be? Come learn and experience the responsibility of horse care and the proper way to hand graze horses safely. . Our Equiscout program is drop in and it is free! Come join us from 2-4PM today for our monthly meeting!

We would like to thank the “horseypaloozers” who participated yesterday and let you all know that we had a wonderful afternoon! It was so much fun for us and hopefully educational and fun for all of you! Looking forward to next year for sure and, we are possibly looking at a fall Horseypalooza if we have participants interested. If you are – please call our office and let us know! HORSEYPALOOZA – TODAY!!! We are so excited to have a beautiful afternoon for Horseypalooza! If you are a horse crazy kid or adult that is already registered for this event – we can’t wait to meet you! If you are not registered yet, but want to attend, please FB message or call 847-395-3414 to do so. Leave a message if we can’t get to the phone and we will call you back! The class star, ts at noon and continues until 4:30 or 5:00 and the cost is $75, which includes a basic riding lesson. Come on out and have the Horse Experience with us – tons of fun!!!!

Equiscouts this Sunday from 2-4PM! Come join us to learn and work with horses, meet other horse crazy kids (and adults) and have loads of fun! We have a casual learning environment where questions are welcome and fun encouraged! Our program is free of charge and is drop in friendly – our meetings are once a month. HORSEYPALOOZA this Saturday, July 11th!!!! Come join us for this afternoon learning and riding class!! This afternoon class (from 12 to 4:30) focuses on basic horsemanship, safe handling, care, grooming, animal behavior and a basic riding lesson (mounting, dismounting, stopping, going, and steering). It is geared toward the novice horse enthusiast who just wants to learn! Horse crazy kids to horse crazy adults will learn and have fun in this casual hands on experience. We emphasize safety and our experienced four legged assistants help you have hands on lessons that you won’t forget! The cost is $75 for the afternoon, including the lesson, and we still have some open spots – but they are limited, so call and reserve your place today! Just for everyone’s calendars. . our Equiscout meeting normally held on the first Sunday of each month is postponed from tomorrow, the 5th to next week on the 12th due to the holiday weekend. We are hoping everyone, new and old, can make it to the meeting from 2-4 PM at Brighton – it is going to be so much fun for anyone who is even the least bit horse crazy!! Wow! We had a fabulous time at the parade today! Our float looked awesome, Brighty was in a total dancing zone, all of our family and friends were super happy – and why wouldn’t we be? Such a beautiful holiday and we were meeting hundreds of new friends! Thanks to everyone who came out to help and sprint alongside the float – LOL! Also, we are looking forward to meeting all our new friends as well!

Happy happy Fourth of July!!! We are wishing everyone and their families a very happy and safe holiday!!! Come join us at the Antioch parade at 10:30 this morning. . Brighty will be riding our awesome float! Look for us in the 36th position and we will be handing out horse stickers and information! Can’t wait!!!!!

Well, we blinked two times and June is almost over! What happened??!!! The good news is that there’s plenty of summer left to enjoy and July is very exciting at Brighton! First of all, come celebrate the Fourth of July with us at the Antioch parade! Our own Brighty will be riding our float and we will have goodies that we will be handing out along the route – such fun! Then the very next day, on the 5th, we have our Equiscouts meeting from 2-4PM. On July 11th, we have Horseypalooza – horsemanship/riding boot camp – still not too late to register for that if you’re in for a fun horsey filled afternoon! And that’s only the first half of the month! More events and surprises to come – keep checking our page, or call our barn office for details – 847-395-3414. Only a few more days to our annual Brighton Farm picnic at Arlington!!! Come see us in the picnic area on Sunday, June 28th! We will be there all afternoon – so come and join in the fun! It is family day at Arlington so there’s plenty to do and see, race bets to win, great food and drink and, of course, the best group of Brighton friends and family one could ask for! Weather looks awesome, as always – so pack a picnic, get some food at the track or we always have plenty to share!!! The first Horseypalooza of 2015 is approaching soon – Saturday, June 20th!!! Horseypalooza is our introductory workshop for the afternoon that allows you to learn safety, basic horsemanship, care – including feeding and grooming, tacking up, and more – all in a casual, fun atmosphere with the best four legged assistants in the world! The day will also include a mini intro lesson on horseback to learn mounting, dismounting, steering, walking and halting. . it is the best i. ntroduction to horses for anyone ages 6 to adult! Not to mention -TONS OF FUN and GREAT EXERCISE! The cost is $75 for the afternoon from 1PM to 5PM. Come join us, meet our horses and have a great day of fun and learning! June also means our annual Brighton Farm picnic at Arlington Race Track!! This year it is on Sunday, June 28th! Come on out and join us for a day at the track! Details can be obtained over the phone, or message us with your email and we will send you a flyer. Sundays are family days at Arlington and we always have such a great time! Wow! June is here and star, ted and May just flew by! It went so quickly, we are due for our monthly Equiscouts meeting this Sunday, June 7th from 2-4! This month we are going to work on horse handling – specifically turn out, lunging and, hopefully, weather permitting, grazing! We are also going to discuss the design and work plan for our 4th of July Brighton float that is going to be in the Antioch parade – so exciting! Come join in the fun, meet new horsey friends, and learn how to safely work around horses! All ages (even adults!) are welcome to drop in and join us for the afternoon. OMG! May is coming so quickly and that means Equiscouts is already this Sunday!!!! Yay! We hope to see all of our devoted scouts, our new friends from recent meetings and new friends that we have yet to meet – please stop on by for a few hours of horsey fun and learning!!!!!!!!!! This meeting, we will be learning about horse tack and equipment used for different types of riding and horse jobs. Our horsey interaction will be learning the proper way to tack up a horse and . also to see how any other equipment is used or how a horse wears it! Since it will be so nice weatherwise, we hope, we will also be grazing horses and learning the proper and safe way to do so. Finally, in our horse talk portion, we will be discussing some traditions that have led to how we handle, ride, show and experience horses today. We had a great time at Equiscouts today! Met and welcomed some wonderful moms and kids to our session! Everyone had fun, we learned a lot and Honey and Mackie have not been this clean in forever! Plus they so enjoyed the treats! Thanks to everyone for joining us today!!!!

It is finally calm! Wow – everyone up here at the farm – horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and, of course, people – are fine and thankful the storms and tornadoes have passed. . very, very scary! We are hoping all of our friends and family outside the barn are safe and sound at their homes. Thank you for your thoughts and updates throughout the storms – these were a little too close for comfort! Our thoughts and prayers are with the families that lived in the area the tornadoes touched down. .

Only a few more days to our Equiscout meeting!!! This Sunday from 2-4PM-all are invited! We are hoping to see some new faces and make some new friends! We are going to sharpen up our grooming skills with some new and fun tips and equipment AND we are going to have a horse makeover contest with teams!
