Does a bread box need ventilation?

Article Tools

No. On one extreme, a closed non-porous bag will provide a moist environment that encourages mold. It doesn’t require much moisture transport to not encourage mold, in part because bread doesn’t give up much moisture once it’s cooled. Bread boxes don’t normally have holes.
