Some stones, like limestone or travertine, lend themselves better to staining because they are porous and absorb the stain easier. However, most stone can be stained using an acid stain designed to penetrate masonry surfaces. Spray a 2-by-2-foot area with the acid stain until it’s uniformly wet.
