Our date for closing this season has been set at November 15th. This year has rushed by fast but you still have time to see the colors and visit the Vintage Garden at least one more time before we close. Here are a few pictures from my walk this morning. The elusive Green Heron.

September sneaked up on us way too quickly. Mary is running a great sale as we rapidly approach our season finale. “30% off all gifts and antiques”!!! Hopefully this winter won’t be as brutal as last and that our Fall extends at least until Christmas.

Thought I would give you an idea of what our menu is about. It changes frequently but all items are delishous and make it difficult to choose.

The Monarch Butterflies are fattening up for their grand migration. Taken on my Boardwalk trek today.

On my walk around the Mill Pond I snapped a pic of a Blue Heron. Pretty Bird!

Mary and I have contracted a great crew (Freshcoat Painting) and they are busy refreshing the Vintage Garden. It’s a disruptive time for the business and takes much time attending to the details of such a project, but when all is completed, it will be beautiful and we can put the flower boxes back for your delight.

My good friend Andy Dowhen came over yesterday and helped me with a daring project. I am reducing the height of the main chimney at the Vintage Garden Cafe and adding a new cap to both the chimney and the flue. This picture shows the chimney with 5 feet gone. Have another 5 feet to go before adding both caps. I’m on the ladder and Andy is catching the bricks, etc. I will be recycling those bricks into a nice pathway in my back yard. P.S. I don’t know why they erected an 18 foot chimney in the first place. Always thought the rule was 10″/2′. Maybe at some time in the past, wood was burned and that necessitated the chimney to be above the structures’ roof line.

We are into our second week of operation and welcoming new customers to our exceptional world of shopping and dining. With the rebound (slow but sure) of the economy, I feel we will have a wonderful season ahead.

Just thought I would post some pretty birds seen perching around the Vintage Garden.

The Cafe and shop is open and we have had a good star, t to the 2014 season. Thought I’d give you a look into the kitchen as Mary and our cook prepare for another day.

It’s Sunday and We are not taking a break from our tasks. I have procured a nice piece of beef (Don’t get too grossed out) from our local grocery store and will treat Mary to steak and mushrooms, mashed potatos (potatos can be spelled either way tos or toes. I just don’t think toes should be in the potato) and broccoli. We have one more day to ready the Vintage Garden Cafe’ before our Tuesday opening. Let’s hope the weather cooperates with us this season and we have a banner year to keep us going.

I love these painted turtles. I have a couple woodcarved of this species that you would swear are real. Mary and I are busy readying the Cafe’ for our Spring opening this Tuesday, May 6th. Cleaning and merchandising after our trip to the Minneapolis Gift Show where Mary replenished her supply of beautiful (and inexpensive) jewelry and ordered cards for every occasion. My lovely wife spent the winter collecting collectibles and antiques to fill in the empty spots. We are now preparing the kitchen and stocking food supplies for your epicurean delight. By next Tuesday all we will need is you.

My Boardwalk trek landed me a few good pictures which are an encouraging sign that Spring is indeed here. The swallow was shot near Butte des Morts.

I’m beginning to doubt that Spring will make it this year. We still plan on opening May 6th come hell or deep snow. See you then!

I’ve been wracking my brain trying to write a really silly and believable April Fools Day post concerning the Vintage Garden Cafe but finally realized that this place is anything but silly and unbelievable. Mary and I are planning for a new season with all the very best foods and shopping you wonderful people deserve. With our opening scheduled for Tuesday May 6th, we have begun a process of Spring Cleaning, ordering stock and buying new and old treasures to make this coming season the very best yet. Can’t wait to see you all!!!

Once again these lovely ladies from Oshkosh lunched and shopped at the Vintage Garden Cafe. So nice to see these beautiful women.

Wine and cocktails available. A great place for a fine lunch and shopping.
Nice shop to stop for lunch at, if you’re not in a hurry. The food was tasty (mostly sandwiches) and the decor was very nice. If you like looking for antiques this is also an antique shop with a good variety of wares.
