Buraka - Cocktail Bar
Authentic & Delicious Ethiopian and East African cuisine. Good food, definitely something different from the normal fare on State Street. I liked the coconut curry chicken and the misirwot. The service is pretty bad though, and not very attentive, so I would recommend hitting up their food cart in Library Mall during lunch time instead.
Delicious and surprising -- I did not expect Ethiopian in Madison, WI. I'm always torn between this, Kabul and Rising Sons.
The selections of meals could all be found on 1 pages within their menu, (sure, I know some people would like to see more.) But my wife and I got the combo-dinners (two choices combined), thus we had 4 different meals!
Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Good spices, not salt needed.
Amazing food, intimate setting.
Incredible East African food.
Very warm atmosphere, reasonable prices, very healthy mildly spiced food always lifts the spirits.
Beverages are wonderful as well. There is a fine selection of African beers, exotic drinks and excellent coffee served in individual French presses.
The restaurant is underground and we were the only ones there for a little while, so it was nice and intimate. I liked the decor and music. The food was really fantastic and the injera was wonderful. However, they don't know how to properly make a caipirinha.

Didn't know if I would like it, but was very good. Had a chicken and rice dish with veggies. The 'bread' is very different but good -- kind of like a spongy pancake. A little pricy for portion size, but still will go back because the food is good.

great unique food

An excellent African restaurant which delicious, simple food that will keep you coming back! My favorite is the peanut stew. Portions are pretty small for the prices however.

Different but good!

There's no place like Buraka in Madison. The food is excellent & there's lots of options for vegetarians. Very cheap too.
