Our parent company, the National Institute for Medical Informatics (NIMI) is a non profit organization dedicated to research and development of advanced healthcare information networking. NIMI is pleased to sponsor the Wisconsin Health Information Exchange (WHIE) as one of the nation's leading efforts to improve healthcare through regional electronic information exchange.
Mission and Vision
The Mission of WHIE is "collaborating to enable secure delivery of timely, accurate electronic health information to authorized users across institutional boundaries". WHIE's vision is: "improving the quality, safety, efficiency, and accessibility of health care and public health".
The technology platform for the WHIE ED Linking project will be the Amalga system supplied by Microsoft Corporation. The innovative Amalga software has won accolades for its ability to integrate data from multiple health care systems and to present information to clinicians in a useful manner. Amalga's unique architecture delivers sub-second responses to diverse queries directed at massive amounts of data. The WHIE implementation will lead the nation in the application of this software platform to address the complex needs of a regional health information exchange system.
